This policy explains how FountainForge, developed by 3PigProductions, handles information. It applies to FountainForge, rather than the other apps described elsewhere on this blog.
Your writing and local storage
FountainForge saves drafts, protected imported originals, checkpoints, saved notes, Studio characters and beats, custom prompts, settings, and associated images in the app’s local storage. Basic writing, preview, import, and export do not require an AI service or a FountainForge account. 3PigProductions does not operate a server that receives your screenplay library, and this release does not automatically sync that library between devices. Your device’s system backup settings may include app data.
Optional AI services
AI features are optional. Apple writing assistance uses Apple’s on-device model on supported devices. Image Playground runs through Apple’s system interface. If you choose an external provider such as ChatGPT within Image Playground, review the sharing notices shown by Apple; that system option is separate from FountainForge’s direct OpenAI API integration.
If you enable FountainForge’s OpenAI or Google Gemini writing or image features, the app requests provider-specific permission and shows the text or image prompt and task scope for review before you choose Send. The reviewed content and task instructions are sent directly to the selected provider using your API key. Providers also receive authentication and network information, such as your IP address, needed to operate their services. Requests authenticated with your key can be associated with your provider account. Do not assume submitted material is anonymous or confidential.
Provider handling, retention, eligibility, and any use of inputs or responses for service improvement depend on the provider’s current terms and your account settings. Google’s unpaid Gemini API services may use submitted content and responses for improvement and human review; do not send sensitive or confidential material through those services. Paid-service terms differ. Review OpenAI’s terms and Google’s Gemini API terms before using those features. These services have their own age and regional eligibility requirements.
You can revoke permission for future direct cloud AI requests in Settings. This does not recall data already sent. Provider-held information is subject to that provider’s retention and deletion controls. API use may involve charges from the provider; an app purchase does not include AI credits.
API keys
API keys entered in FountainForge are stored using Apple’s Keychain, separately for writing and image services. They authenticate requests to the selected provider and are not included in screenplay prompts or exported library backup files. They are not sent to a 3PigProductions server. Keychain items may remain after app removal under Apple’s system rules; removing the app should not be treated as revoking a provider key. Manage or revoke keys through the provider when necessary.
Purchases
FountainForge offers one screenplay free with all features and no time limit, plus a one-time Unlimited Screenplays in-app purchase for creating or importing more screenplays. Apple processes the payment. FountainForge uses Apple’s StoreKit to verify purchase access and restore the upgrade. 3PigProductions does not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password through the app and does not operate a purchase-validation server. Apple may provide the developer with sales, financial, and app reports under Apple’s applicable terms. Restore Purchases restores purchase access; it does not restore your screenplay files.
Exports, backups, and deletion
Exports and manual backups create separate files in the location you choose, such as Files, iCloud Drive, or another storage provider. Files shared with another person or service are handled under that recipient’s policies. Backup files are not encrypted by FountainForge, so store and share them carefully. Manual backups can include one script or your entire library, including its writing history, saved notes, Studio entries, prompts, and associated images. API keys and cloud-sharing permissions are excluded.
You can delete scripts through Library. Deleting a script does not delete previously exported files, backups, or material already sent to an AI provider. Manage those separately with the file-storage service or AI provider. Removing the app removes its local app container under the operating system’s rules; system backups and Keychain items may remain separately.
Advertising, analytics, and tracking
The FountainForge app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs and does not implement cross-app advertising tracking. 3PigProductions does not sell your screenplay content or use it to target advertisements. Apple and any optional external services you choose process information under their own terms and privacy policies. TestFlight feedback or diagnostic reports you choose to share may be made available to the developer through Apple.
